Project Management

All the Strategic Business Units (SBUs) have their own Project Management teams who are responsible for executing a Project right from design stage to commissioning. MBE's experienced Project Managers manage projects through Primavera integrated with Oracle Project Contracting. All Project sites are connected through VPN & VSAT network.

The experience of constructing over 300 plants has sharpened our project management systems and skills to heights that enable us to execute projects on time and in many cases earlier than the project schedule. Dedicated project management teams with highly qualified project managers and logistics managers monitor and control each project, irrespective of its size, using latest project Management tools as well as internally developed proprietary software. MBE has gained a reputation for providing quality service always keeping customer’s interest in view. It has an in-house resource base to control every aspect of the project.

Key to effective project management has been supply chain management. MBE has a competent procurement cell with a long standing vendor base to ensure cost effective and on time delivery of quality products and services.

Design & Engineering

All Divisions have their own Engineering teams who extend a broad spectrum of Design and drafting services in the fields of Civil & Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Utilities, Electrical, Instrumentation and automation. MBE has over 800 Engineering personnel, highly experienced in different disciplines providing Design & Engineering support for all Projects.

The Engineering teams offer services in the following major activities:

• Extending assistance in bidding for projects
• Analysis, Design and Preparation of Construction Drawings using state-of-the-art software and in-house computer facilities. Automation in engineering is a major part of this activity.
• Preparation of Bill of Quantities for procurement of major construction materials.

Since the inception of this Department comprising a team of 50 technically competent members selected from different Engineering disciplines have made significant advances in the field of Design Automation. The basic intention of Design Automation Projects is to achieve the following :-

Supply Chain Management

The Centralised Supply Chain Management Department staffed with over 50 experienced Purchase Managers, Vendor Relations Engineers and Quality Control Engineers ensure timely procurement and supply of right quality materials and equipment to various sites. To effectively follow-up with the vendors for equipment delivery on time, Supply Chain Management has stationed experienced Engineers at various Industrial hubs of the country such as Kolkata, Howrah, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Faridabad.

MBE owns all major construction equipment that are located at various sites- Civil - Hydraulic Piling Rigs, Excavators, Rock- Breakers, Dumpers, Compactors, Batching Plants, Transit Mixers, Concrete pumps, Total stations etc. Structural & Mechanical - Tower cranes, Crawler cranes, Gantry Cranes, Hydras, Winches, Hydraulic Jacks, Diesel Gensets, Welding m/cs etc. With around 1000 construction engineers (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation) posted at various project sites and over 10,000 workers and supervisors working in these locations at any point in time, MBE is capable of taking up construction projects of any size.

MBE undertakes a wide range of civil construction activities that include simple jobs like construction of boundary walls to building modern highways and specialized structures like Silos, bunkers, tunnels, track hoppers, heavy machine foundations etc. MBE is capable of executing more than 400,000 cubic metres of concreting in a year in addition to driving cast in situ piles for more than 10000 numbers in a year through high capacity Rotary Rigs and conventional methods.

Be it fabrication of industrial buildings of more than 75 mts height or equipment structures of 90 mts height, MBE makes it all possible. MBE is capable of fabricating over 100,000 MT of steel in a year.

Piping Work

With experience in completing process piping and utilities in more than 300 EPC projects MBE is capable of undertaking projects involving CS / SS/ AS / Aluminum / Copper / PVC / HDPE / RCC / PSC / AC / GI piping and ducting for Dust Extraction and Suppression systems, HVAC systems, Fire fighting systems, Piping systems for slurry /water / reagent /steam lines, process piping of all industries e.g., Refineries, Petrochemicals, Fertilizers etc. MBE is capable of fabrication and installation of more than 1.5 million Inch diameter of UNIT / OFFSITE Piping work in one year and more than 400 KM of Cross country pipeline in a year for various services.

Erection & Commissioning

The Goliath cranes standing 90 mts tall and 90 mts wide at Cochin shipyard and the 1750 MT, 700 Ltr. bucket wheel excavator at Neyveli Lignite Corp. stand testimony to the erection skills of MBE. MBE erects over 3000 MT of equipment in a year. Complete plants have been erected and commissioned in less than 3 months time from the time various equipment has been delivered at site.

Airport Terminal

The Indian civil aviation sector is growing at 25 -30% annually and to participate in the growth, MBE is targeting this sector in a big way. Major areas of activities in the modernization / construction of AIRPORTS are well within the scope of operation of MBE and its Associated agencies. Hydel Power Projects

Hydel Power Plant

Most of the major work involved in this sector like General Civil work, Construction of roads in hilly terrain, Tunnelling, Construction of Dams, Spillways, Installation of Radial Gates, Bulkhead Gates, Gantry Crane, Trash Rack, Rotary and Static equipment in the power house and allied Electrical and instrumentation work etc., are within the operational areas of MBE. Some of the equipment can also be manufactured in the four sophisticated workshops of MBE.

Port Infrastructure.

Based on the experience of MBE in erection of port equipment in a number of major ports in India, MBE is aiming a significant share in the $ 40 bn investment plan in this sector in the 11 th Plan.

Railways

Indian railways are expanding in a big way through the proposed construction of a dedicated Freight corridor with 6 arms totalling 15000 KM with an estimated investment of Rs. 40,000 Crores. Investment towards METRO RAIL in Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad will be around 20,000 crores. MBE with its large in-house and outsourcing network is ready to take up a lead role in the construction of these projects.

Refinery & Petrochemicals and Oil & Gas

With a large in-house set up for EPC/Turnkey execution in various sectors, MBE is capable of taking up civil, structural, piping, tankage and associated works for various units of refining and petro chemical plants. This includes CDU, VDU, DCU, HTU, Heater, storage tanks and offsite work for civil, structural and piping.

Buildings, Stadiums, Hospitals

With excellent in-house back-up in design and engineering of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation work, MBE can take up all work related to sports complexes, indoor and outdoor stadiums, hospital complexes and large/medium scale real estate activities.

Cement Plants

With its in-house capability of manufacturing and supply of sophisticated material handling equipment, MBE can take up the supply and manufacturing work of cement plant equipment and structure. MBE is capable of erection of all major cement plant structures and equipment including civil works.

Fertilizer Projects

MBE has developed an enviable equipment bank for both manufacturing and project execution work in various fields of operation. MBE can take up all critical civil, structural, piping and equipment work generally required for the fertilizer plant for construction of cement silos, gowdown, prilling tower, chimney, air separator unit, plants for urea, NPK, methanol, acid plants, soda ash etc.
